Totnes Station is managed by First Great Western, and has links to main line services from London Paddington station to Plymouth and Penzance. CrossCountry operate trains through Birmingham to Manchester, the north east of England, and Scotland. Routes to the north include stops at Exeter, Tiverton, Taunton, Bristol, Cheltenham through to Birmingham New Street.

Whole station has step free coverage to platforms 1 and 2, however there is no accessible way to cross platforms. There is only a footbridge, and no lifts are available at this station.

There are ramps for train access on both platforms.

Ticket office and car park are step free.

Staff assistance is available; request assistance from any member of staff but it is best to book 24 hours in advance.

There is one accessible toilet on platform 2. The design of this needs modernising, as there is not enough turning room for larger wheelchairs, and the toilet is located in its own cubicle, where the space could be used more efficiently.

Your request becomes a ‘booking’ and the details are recorded and relayed to the appropriate train and station staff of each company involved in your journey, even if this involves multiple companies. You do not need to contact each company yourself.

There are two convenient Blue Badge car space next to the ticket office, on platform 1 side. This space has extra side room for door openings. There does not appear to be a waiting time limit on the space.

For travellers wishing to use Platform 2, it is advised that the car park on the far side of the station is used. It is not clear if there are long-stay spaces available.

Platform 1 has a Main Car Park

Platform 2 Side Car Park, taxi pick-up and drop-off, and an excess car park at the far end of the road. There is no vehicle height restriction barrier at the entrance to the car park. A wheelchair user can get from the parking area to the station without assistance.

In 2014, a £2 million bus service has been launched linking Torbay with the South Hams and Plymouth. The fleet will run seven days a week up to every 30 minutes between Torquay, Paignton and Totnes and then up to every hour to either Plymouth or Dartmouth.

It is recommended that you book assistance if you:

Have a mobility or other disability that means you find getting on and off trains difficult;

Are a wheelchair user (on most services you will need to use a boarding ramp and, on some services reserve a wheelchair space on the train service you wish to use);
